I am a licensed professional counselor in both Virginia and Florida. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Central Florida and graduated from Troy University with a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Psychology. My Philosophy focuses on the Mind and Body Connection and understanding how it is a key factor in maintaining happiness alignment and well-being. Humans are powerful beings and we manifest our reality. Understanding how our thoughts are tied directly to our emotions is key to understanding yourself and what motivates us to act in certain ways.
In working with couples and those interested in deeper relationships, I am able to teach new ways to form connections and strengthen bonds. Couples will develop improved skills related to communication, conflict management, and emotional regulation. I continued education in order to complete levels 1, 2, and 3 of Gottman Method Couples Therapy Training to provide the most effective relationship treatment. There is no rule book on how to have a perfect relationship and we often develop our relationship skills from the example that was modeled to us growing up. Oftentimes this wasn’t a healthy model, but through therapy we can find new and healthy ways to handle our relationships and break the generational cycles.
I specialize in working with grief, depression, and anxiety and the context of individuals families and couples. I understand loss and how to overcome it. At the age of 13 I lost a parent to suicide. This taught me the importance and the value of establishing good mental health practices for oneself. I have made it my goal to help others find a sense of peace and clarity in their lives. I enjoy connecting with people of all ages and various multicultural backgrounds. I understand that everyone has their own truths and perceptions of how they see the world. Increasing awareness and consciousness is vital to truly understanding oneself.
I'm also passionate when it comes to assisting children with behavioral disorders such as ADHD and those on the Autism Spectrum. I aim to utilize role-playing and social skill building to help children interact and bond with others. I believe that parent training and participation are key to helping improve a child's social skills. Together we will create an individualized plan of care that is unique to your child and family as a whole.
Coaching is for those who are ready to take action and start working on a plan to achieve goals. Coaching is a good fit for those who are feeling stuck, are in a life transition, or need guidance on how to turn dreams into reality. I have learned first hand how the mind and body connection work and how necessary support is during transformational growth. Coaching takes place in the present with achievable goals as it relates to personal, career, or relationship development.
The coaching process is very structured and set up so that clients are actively working on steps to achieve their goals throughout each session. This differs from the therapeutic process in counseling where the focus is on understanding self, developing an awareness of emotions, and digging deep to process past trauma. Many of us didn't experience a healthy model of motivation in our life that allowed us to learn and become our own source of motivation. Maybe we didn’t have any motivation modeled or maybe it was harsh and critical. This in turn can lead to low self-esteem and a lack of confidence in taking the necessary steps to get what we want out of life.
The coaching process gives us another opportunity to see that source of healthy motivation modeled in a professional relationship setting and learn how to be our own source of motivation moving forward.
Coaching is offered via packages as it requires the individual to be prepared to commit to 5 sessions. When we are ready to value ourselves is when we will finally live up to our true potential.
